オーストラリアのメルボルンに拠点をおくレーベルEQがリリースしてきた人気コンピシリーズ"Balance"。過去にSean Quinn (001)、Kasey Taylor (002)、Bill Hamel (003) Phil K (004)、James Holden (005)、Anthony Pappa (006)といった渋い顔ぶれをコンパイラーとしてフィーチャーすることで高い評価を集めてきたこのシリーズが、Chris Fortierを起用してその第7作目をリリースする。

プログレッシブ系のDJとしては珍しいアメリカ出身であるChrisは、号泣系トランス・アンセムとして知られるDelerium "Silence"のリミックスなどで大いに名を挙げたユニット"Fade"の片割れとしてその名を轟かせた存在。また彼自身も2002年にBedrock Recordsからリリースした2枚組ミックスCD "Chris Fortier: Compiled And Mixed"で日本のファンにもすっかりお馴染みである。

収録内容の方は、Rabbit in the Moonや、Slamと続き、最後に!!!(Chk Chk Chk)の"Hello, Is This Thing On?"で締めくくられているディスク1、Mathew Jonson やBentなどのテクノ/エレクトロ系プロデューサー陣が名を連ねているディスク2、そしてHardfloorやPascal FEOSなどの楽曲が登場しているディスク3と、かなり充実した内容に仕上がっている。(H.Nakamura & Kei Tajima)
