Organisers for Glastonbury spin-off event the Glade Festival announced this week, that following last year's hugely successful debut event, they've decided to expand their capacity from 5,500 to 8,500 people.
"An extra 3,000 people gives us more budget to improve the festival in many areas," Glade boss Nick Ladd told Skrufff. "The sound in the main dance tent will be a lot better, there will be more toilets, more regularly cleaned, more water points, better hot showers in the arena and more food stalls with greater variety," he revealed, "We've also added two new venues, a cabaret tent and a developmental tent for really out-there shit, the cutting edge of where electronic music may be going," he said.
Sasha, Richie Hawtin and Carl Craig headline the event alongside luminaries including Rennie Pilgrim, Layo & Bushwacka and psy-trance overlord Hallucinogen, for an event that Nick's promising will be 'an english festival- a proper one'.
"Last year we had a great mix of young and older people, there were a lot of faces from when the whole free party scene kicked off in the early 90s, as well as a whole new generation of ravers," said Nick. "There was also not one single criminal act reported for the entire weekend- the police couldn't believe it. They stayed outside for the entire event as they had no reason to come in (they didn't see the streaker)," he added.
Tickets cost GBP 82.50 for the whole weekend with no admission on the day, or day tickets available. Fence jumpers also face prosecution for trespassing, Nick said, with 150 gatecrashers caught by security last year.
"We have to take it seriously since if the council see people getting in over the fence, it will jeopardise the licence for next year, the way it did at Glastonbury," said Nick. (Jonty Skrufff/Skrufff.com)
