For the fourth Residents session we return to the techno camp with Hitoshi Ohishi, one of Tokyo's prominent new talents who debuted back in June 2000. At the time Hitoshi was churning out records on the UK label Primevil Recordings, and Frogman Records. His moniker Newdeal saw him join Roman Flugel last November at Unit, and he has just released an album, Fudge, under the same name, showcasing no less than thirteen original tracks. The release party for the album was on the 7th of this month, when he joined Toney Raios from Cocoon Recordings in Womb. Hitoshi recently returned from France where he was touring with the Chemical Brothers, and has enjoyed no small amount of interest there, with promoters and clubs scrambling to get him signed back - and a few moments listening to this mix will make it obvious why. | |
