Attracting what seemed like an overall younger audience to Womb, Adam Beyer, didn't appear to have to work so hard to excite the crowd. So early after the New Year revelries you would have thought people would have taken time out for a bit of R&R, not Tokyo. Adam Beyer's hard percussive style techno certainly has its fans and they came out in force at Womb last night. The tall guy drifted between hard banging techno loops - guaranteed to get me standing at the bar downing gin and tonics - and uplifting seemingly progressive house mixes guaranteed to drag me back on to the dance floor. So that's how the night progressed for me, gin and dance. The rest of the crowd however lapped it up whatever the genre, and wailed their appreciation with numerous whoops and shrieks and waved salutes to big Swede taking command at the decks. This was the third in a series of parties under the Vade umbrella, and purely a Womb based project, the first being back in September with Ben Sims headlining, and the second showcasing Joey Beltram at the end of November. Adam Beyer was a natural progression for this techno inspired event. A good solid performance by Beyer meant another good and solid night at Womb which repeatedly manages to bring in the big names. Beyer after the Tokyo gig, is on his way back to Europe via a performance in Malaysia, and then is going to take a well-earned break on the ski slopes of France. Well that's what his girlfriend said. | |
