Five British holidaymakers have died from falling off hotel balconies in
Ibiza this season, Spanish newspaper El Pais reported this week, adding that
the main cause of death was wasted revellers losing their balance from drink
and drugs.
El Pais said some hotels have raised the heights of balconies in recent
years, though Shaun Bundy, whose daughter Lisa, 21, died in June after
slipping as she smoked a cigarette from a 40 foot high third story window,
called for tighter measures to reduce the threat.
"These hotels should install window safety bars,” Mr Bundy told the Mirror
“This could easily have happened to a child. I don't want any parent to go
through what we are going through."
In more Ibiza news, the Standard revealed that heir to the British home
Prince William has been raving on the island in recent weeks, reportedly
renting a villa with his girlfriend ‘a short drive from the island’s
hotspots’.
“They just wanted to go and party in the sun like any other young couple,” a
‘close source’ told the paper.
“There are so many people there partying and so far they haven’t been
recognised. It is amazing how you can disappear by just wearing a baseball
cap, T-shirt and shorts.”
In contrast, blonde British hairdresser Lucie Triance, 23, claimed to have
spent weeks living in luxury in Ibiza then San Tropez after fooling not so
sharp-witted revellers at Space that she was heiress Paris Hilton.
“A drag queen introduced me as Paris so I went along with it,” Lucie told
the News Of The World.
“I addressed the crowd in an American accent and was surrounded by crowds
demanding autographs and photos. I loved it,” she added.
