Norman 'Fatboy Slim' Cook admitted this week that he still sometimes accidentally puts records on at the wrong speed and even more curiously has never owned a computer.
"I don't use one, no," the multi-million selling superstar producer confessed in Mixmag, "No one's ever sent me an email or an MP3 file and I'd like to keep it that way. I'm old skool," he boasted.
Quite how he manages to write electronic tracks without a computer remains unclear, though several months earlier he revealed that the secret of his success was to produce songs with 'chorus and a groove only, don't bother writing the verse'.
He also ridiculed his own song-writing skills several years previously when he was enjoying international hits with tracks including Rockerfella Skank, Gangsta Trippin and Praise You, after it emerged 70s balladeer Barry Manilow was a big fan.
"Barry Manilow said something like, 'I'm still quite hip, I like Underworld and Fatboy Slim.' He might have been bluffing," Cook told DJ Mag in 2002.
"But I can't picture Barry Manilow sitting there, listening to 'Fucking In Heaven' saying, 'Hmm, that is good song-writing'."
