Monumental techno club in exile, Tresor is set to reopen its doors very soon. The club, which was closed in April last year despite reaching cult status, has been running "Tresor in Exile" parties at another club, Maria am Ufer, since then. However, now it has been announced that Tresor has found a new home of its very own which, while it won't be the impressive vault setting, is sure to please many techno fans. Although the dates and location still remain a secret, the Tresor team promise that they have "found a new, fantastic location in the heart of Berlin!".
The Tresor club originally opened in March 1991 in the basement vault of an old department store not too far from the Potsdamer Platz. Throughout its fourteen years of life at Leipziger Strasse 126a Tresor underwent many renovations and of course saw many names from the techno scene pass through its doors. During the two weeks prior to the club locking the vault for the last time a huge lineup of artists wanting to say their goodbyes turned up to play including Der Dritte Raum, Dr. Motte, Ricardo Villalobos, Josh Wink, Paul van Dyk, Richie Hawtin, Joey Beltram and many others.
For those who can't quite wait for the reopening, the Tresor team will be running two parties around the Loveparade dates in July and will continue to run their "Tresor in Exile" parties in August.
