Ex Pacha resident DJ Tim Deluxe chatted to Skrufff this week about his season last year at the Ibiza superclub and revealed that despite his elevated status, he took little part in the club's VIP shenanigans.
"The VIP thing at Pacha is like a club within a club, if you want to go there you can but it's not my thing, I feel strange in those environments," the speed garage, dirty house pioneer explained.
"If somebody asks me into those places then that's cool, I'll step into their environment and be myself but for me to actively call up the club and say 'can I have a VIP table tonight' isn't really my style," he said.
Tim was spinning at the club for Darren Emerson's Tuesday night Underwater parties last summer and recalled one occasion when he experienced the power of celebrity first hand.
"I remember Noel Gallagher was there one year and he came up to Darren's villa and we were watching the football together and we all went to the Pacha gig together after," said Tim.
"He was in the DJ booth all night, he didn't go in the VIP area at all but when he did come out onto the dance floor I remember standing talking to him when all of a sudden it was chaos with people absolutely mobbing him. I can understand why they have the VIP areas."
The Oasis star could find himself in even more hot water backstage at Pacha this year, following an interview with the Observer last weekend in which he declared, "I despise hip hop. Loathe it'.
"Eminem is an idiot and I find 50 Cent the most distasteful character I have ever crossed in my life," he added, "I'm not saying they are directly responsible, but that's how you end up with these gangs of youths stabbing people. Kids are so thick these days. They're easily influenced."
Though neither Eminem or 50 Cent have yet been linked to Pacha, Jade Jagger's new Friday night Pacha event Jezebel is firmly centred on hip hop, with rappers including Sizzla, Rhythm Killers and Damon Dash already confirmed as guests.
"It's going to be excess all areas " Jagger promised this week, "Our music will come from Hip Hop, funk, soul, R&B anywhere as long as it hits our hearts and grinds our hips."
Tim Deluxe's new single Reflections is out now on his own label AT Records.
