Carl Cox Raves At London's South-West Four (August 27)

UK techno legend Carl Cox will be playing a rare outdoor gig in London this August when he headlines the main arena at Clapham Common's South West Four event.

The definitive superstar DJ will be spinning at the 20,000 capacity event some 17 years after he first started carving himself a reputation at London's infamous illegal raves of the 80s, as well as re-uniting with Sasha who he played alongside in Holland in 1991.

"The first time I got to play in Holland was at the legendary Roxy; me and Sasha were playing there at the time, it was for DJ magazine in 1991," Carl told Skrufff several months ago. "Ever since then I made my name as Carl Cox."

He also added that Holland's festival scene had gone on to dramatically supersede England's with raves such as Dance Valley nowadays attracting 90,000 revellers.

"I don't really play any rave parties in the UK anymore so all my DJ work has to come from somewhere and in Holland you're still able to do really, really good parties there," he said. "It's not surprising Tiesto is where he is at the moment (world's number 1 jock, according to DJ Mag) because not only does he have his own following from his own fans in his own backyard, but there are also so many parties there, he's been able to become his own powerhouse," said Carl.

Fellow veteran DJ Sasha, who played at the same event last year, said he's particularly looking forward to August's event, with the X factor coming from its outdoor element.

"It's great for me personally to do a gig like that in London, I haven't done those big open air shows in London before so it's great that I've got that lined up," said Sasha. "I'll have a different mind set in terms of the music I'll play there, a completely different mindset than if I was going to Fabric for example."
