Promoters behind Tribal Gathering cancelled their much anticipated Luton dance Festival this week, claiming London's recent suicide bombings made the outdoor rave prohibitively expensive.
According to a report on Radio 1's website, the event was pulled because 'paying for extra security will make it too expensive to run' though the same report added that Global Gathering (GG) is going ahead as planned in two weeks time.
Chatting to Skrufff, GG promoter James Algate stressed they'd never even considered cancelling their (much bigger) two night festival and added that he was surprised Tribal Gathering faced extra security fees.
"We have spoken to the local police and authorities since the London bombs and they are more than happy with the security procedures we already have in place so there will not be a knock on increase or cost difference," said James.
"We as a company and the British public in general are not going to be bullied into a corner by terrorists," he added, "By staging these events and being a part of a festival this stands as a symbol that throughout the UK our way of life will not be changed by a small number of fanatics," said James
This weekend's Glade Festival also confirmed they'll be continuing as planned, telling Skrufff "in light of recent events of course we are going to be extra vigilant, however the site that is being used is one of the securest sites in the country due to its location."
