The inclusion of an extra awards for Best Electronic Album, Best Dance Recording and Best Remixed Recording (Non Classical) in the 47th annual Grammy Awards means the new generation of recording artists will finally receive the recognition they deserve in their own category.
Quite how Paul Oakenfold managed to get nominated for his mixed version of the Creamfields album is still a mystery to us but compared to some of the nominations, Britney Spears and Kylie for instance he may not be such a bad option.
Also nominated for an awards are the expected establishment figures, Sasha, Basement Jaxx, The Prodigy, Paul Van Dyk although they all seem obvious picks, no real innovation or cutting edge choices but then again it usually takes a few years to filter through to the people at the top who choose the nominations.
Dirty, biased and obviously corporate, awards but at least dance music is starting to get some recognition. Listen to the music, decide for yourself.
The awards take place on the 21st Febuary.
