17 Years Of Space Exploration

It’s a bit late to book tickets now but this weekend Space, one of Ibiza’s most popular clubs, is turning 17. To help celebrate this auspicious occasion Tiefschwarz are taking some time off from promoting their recent Fabric CD and Detroit’s Jeff Mills has gladly set aside the conductor’s baton.
When the Ibiza icon opened in 1989 the musical direction was a tad different with live bands and flamenco shows providing the entertainment. However, it wasn’t too long until the DJs arrived with Sven Vath playing at a Red Bull sponsored event in 1992 and DJs like Sasha, John Digweed, Dave Seaman and Carl Cox soon following suit.
Most of these DJs still champion the club with Carl Cox running a successful Tuesday night party for the past five years and just this week transmitting a Radio1 Essential mix from the club with mate Digweed lending a hand. Events like Carl Cox’s, In Bed With Space and Monza have helped Space be voted Best Global Club the past two years in the International Dance Music Awards.
We Love Space 17th Birthday will be held on Sunday 13th of August.
