It's time once again for the annual Technics DMC world mixing championships with the world final due to take place on the 4th and 5th of September at Hammersmith Apollo in London. Now in its 19th year the awards have become an established measure of greatness behind the decks with past winners including Cash Money, Cutmaster Swift, Craze, A-trak, Q-Bert and Roc Raida,
The 2 days event will feature a live P.A. from The Jungle Brothers on the Saturday night when the battle for Team Champions and World Supremacy awards will take place and Sunday will see a live performance from the X-Ecutioners, The Spitkingdom Soundsystem and the individual championship finals.
Favourite to win the event is the UK's DJ Blakey who narrowly missed winning the championships lat year. He's already won the UK national championships securing his place in the final and is hotly tipped to become this years grand champion. The national finals for the Japanese DJ to decide who will be making his way to London will be decided on the 20th of August at the finals event being held at the new Liquid Room in Ebisu. Japan's DJ Kentaro has gone onto great success at home and abroad after winning the 2002 individual championships playing at almost every major festival in Japan last year.
Higher Frequency will be at the event capturing the sights and reporting the sounds so readers in Japan can find out what they missed. For our readers in the UK don't wait for the report, get yourself down to the events and cheer on the champions!
