international news _ 7th April 2005
The Red Bull music academy, the educational experience that young DJs and Producers would give their right ear for will be taking place for the 8th time this year in the 'Emerald City of NW USA, Seattle. The students taking part in the programme will undertake a 2 week course under the tutelage of industry experts and accomplished international guests to provide them with a unique insight into the world they're eagerly trying to get into, the curriculum described by one time teachers Public Enemy as "food for the brain, beats for the feet".
The lucky few will take part in one of two terms, Term 1 (6th -18th November 2005) or Term 2 ( 27th November - 9th December 2005) which will be hosted by music luminaries such as Giles Peterson and Tim Westwood and will take place in rather unique classrooms which will basically be recording studios with a full set up of turntables, mixers, samplers, keyboards and the latest music production software.
The application procedure for this years academy begins on 18th April 2005 when those wishing to be considered for the course will be invited to send an application form along with a recent photo and mix CD (or selection of their own music) to the judges who will eventually choose the lucky few.
Application forms can be requested from their website (Matt Cheetham)
