BURNING MAN FESTIVAL

A massive gathering of people to explore alternative ways of living, the Burning man festival held on an ancient lakebed in the Nevada desert is fast becoming one of the world's most famous festivals.

Over 25,000 people will gather in the desert for a weeklong celebration of art and culture with installations, performances and workshops all based around this years theme, 'Vault of Heaven'. With music supplied by anyone who turns up with a musical instrument or a box of records there have been a few surprise appearances over the years although no-one is ever booked to play, emphasizing the participatory nature of the event.

The 250 USD admission fee permits you to enter Black Rock City, (the camp created for the event) for the week during the festival, the culmination of which sees the huge wooden statue burnt. For more information check out their website.
